Mayor Mitchell Brownstein and Mount Royal Liberal
Member of Parliament Anthony Housefather have confirmed their presence at my
District 2 Re-election Campaign Meet and Greet this Sunday night (8 pm),
October 1, at the new Café de L`Avenue. For those who are not familiar with
this spot, is located at Quartier Cavendish next to Scotiabank.
From the moment our council approved plans for a
housing development on half of the land once occupied by the facility formerly
known as the Cavendish Mall, then Mayor Housefather made it clear that he saw
the new street christened The Avenue as a potential Côte Saint-Luc version of
Monkland in NDG. Yeh! Yogurt was the first outfit to take a stab at it. Despite
a gallant try, it could not survive.
Last summer Marissa and Noah Sidel rolled the dice and
opened the café, which I can see is already developing a multi-generational
clientele from a student plugged into WiFi to couples young and old sharing a
coffee, sandwich or piece of cake. They open early, close late and present a
great spot to visit after a movie. Marissa, Noah and their team are also
working towards having events there, be it speakers or thematic presentations.
So please come join me Sunday. Coffee is on us and I
encourage you to sample some of their food. I look forward to chatting with as
many people as possible. My campaign manager Reuben Spector will say a few
words. So will Mayor Brownstein, MP Housefather and me of course. The speeches will be short and sweet. This is a wonderful
opportunity for me to meet constituents at a new venue located in the heart of
District 2.
